Viral Lauren Tan quotes about Grok Bot teams don't match each other

15+ to 125+agent counts claimed in different viral posts

Since early October 2026, and in a fresh wave since 5 Nov, many X accounts have posted short clips of SpaceXAI engineer Lauren Tan speaking at a talk, each with a different 'quote' about how many she runs. The numbers do not agree with each other, and we could not find them in material she has published herself.

Key points

Different posts claim she runs 15+, 20+, 100+ or 125+ agents, and that 'only 1%', '0.1%' or '99%' of people use Grok Bot wrongly. One post says over 80% of SpaceXAI engineers run teams of 50+ agents.
Several posts add a story about a job seeker who got an offer after showing his agents. Between versions, the offer grows from about RM2 million (US$500K) to about RM3.2 million (US$800K), the job applications from 250 to more than 1,000, and the talk itself from 40 minutes to an hour.
We could not confirm which event the clips come from: posts and re-uploads describe it differently. In a 27 Sep 2026 interview on Peter Yang's Behind the Craft, Lauren Tan and designer Peng Zheng show the 14 bots they really use, and neither the episode notes nor WhoBuilt's summary mention these figures or the job story. Without the full original talk, treat the quotes as unverified, not disproven.
Many of the posts open with the same line and layout, a common sign of . Find the original video before you share a clip's caption as a quote.

Why it matters: Made-up numbers make sound like a to a big salary. The real advice in the talk is slower: start small, check the work, then hand over more.

What Grok Bot's builders actually do: small jobs first, then more trust

14bots shown in the original interview

In the original 27 Sep 2026 interview with Peter Yang (@petergyang), 's lead designer Peng Zheng and engineer Lauren Tan showed 14 bots they use for work and life. This is their own account of their setups, and the full episode is on YouTube.

Key points

Peng uses a that passes tasks to other bots, such as a writer and a designer. His assistant booked a multi-stop work trip only after he reviewed and approved the flights and hotels.
Lauren's engineering lead bot, Matcha, does not write code itself. It splits a project into smaller tasks and hands them to other bots, which start coding .
Her bots test their own changes before a code change is accepted. She says some changes now go in before she reviews them, in a workflow she has learned to trust.
Their advice: start with one simple task, watch and correct the bot, turn what works into a reusable , then add and more freedom. Keep a human approval step for things like bookings and payments.

Why it matters: You don't need 100 agents. One bot that does one job well, with you approving the risky steps, is a realistic first step.

Grok Bot's refreshed docs: change a personal Bot's job by chatting

0.79.2Mac app version on Homebrew; official notes still at 0.78.1 on 6 Nov

Matt Palmer (@mattyp), who works on at SpaceXSI, posted on 7 Nov 2026 (MYT) that the Grok Bot docs "just got a facelift". The unofficial site grokbot.guru pointed to one practical change in the official 'Create and manage Bots' guide: you now set up a personal Bot by talking to it.

Key points

According to grokbot.guru, the guide says personal Bots no longer have a description or a Bot settings page; to change what one does, you tell it in chat. Shared Bots still have a description that an owner or manager can edit.
Personal Bots also have no memory screen. You can ask what the Bot remembers, correct an old fact or ask it to forget something, all in chat. The guide warns that memory alone should not be your safety check; approvals do that job.
Separately, the Mac app reached version 0.79.2 on 5 Nov (per ), while the official still showed 0.78.1 from 27 Oct when Super Intelligence One checked on 6 Nov. Users report a tidier look and voice settings per Bot; these are community reports, not official notes.
Try it: give a personal Bot one job in chat, name its sources and where it must stop for your approval, ask it to remember those rules, then ask what it remembers before you rely on it.

Why it matters: If you went looking for a Bot settings page and couldn't find it, that is by design now. Writing the job down in chat also leaves a record you can check later.

Grok Bot can now phone US businesses for you

US onlycalls work on eligible US accounts, to US numbers, for now

can now make phone calls for you. The official @grok account says it works on eligible US accounts (not in Washington or Illinois), to US numbers, in the latest iPhone app, and is still rolling out. You tell your Bot who to call and what you need, and it talks to the person for you.

Key points

Elon Musk told people on 3 Nov to try asking Grok Bot to make calls. There is no entry for it yet, says the unofficial site grokbot.guru.
Users say you approve each call first on an , a live transcript shows during the call, and the Bot asks you in the chat if it needs a detail it does not have.
The Grok Bot Terms (updated 31 Oct, section 2.7) say you are the . Only call people who agreed to hear from you. Marketing, mass calls, fraud, harassment and impersonation are not allowed.
Every call says a virtual assistant is calling for you and may be recorded, and you cannot turn that off. It is not a phone service and cannot reach emergency numbers.

Why it matters: Hold music and phone menus are a big time sink. For now this only works in the US, so Malaysian users cannot use it yet.

A Krabi–Bangkok flight booked, and SEA users wait for calls

RM265one Krabi–Bangkok fare the Bot paid (THB 2,040)

users in Southeast Asia shared what they are doing with it this week. These are their own posts, not official news.

Key points

X Freeze (@XFreeze) says one message got Grok Bot to book a next-day Lion Air flight from Krabi to Bangkok. It filled in his details, paid by card and passed the bank check. The fare was about RM265 (THB 2,040).
His screenshot also shows the was not fully confirmed at first, so the Bot offered to check it later with the booking reference.
Alan Doan (@alandoan17) in Vietnam likes the new phone calls but notes they work with US numbers only for now.
In Singapore, Matt (@Matt_INHK) says more friends now pay for Grok Bot. Nix Ron (@nixeniego) says his Grok Bot Philippines group is close to 2,500 members.

Why it matters: Bookings in the region already work. Before you trust one, check the airline's own confirmation email or page.

Early users are sharing the calls they hand to . These are their own accounts.

Key points

Natarajan Balasubramanian (@ptbnat) had his Bot call three doctors' offices to ask if they take his new insurance. He says all three calls worked.
Eric Zakariasson (@ericzakariasson) of SpaceXSI says his Bot has called airlines to rebook his flights.
Brian Roemmele (@BrianRoemmele) shared a 'Switchboard Secretary' setup. You give it who to call, what you want and the best outcome. It waits on hold, asks you in the chat when the asks something new, and sends a report after.
Peter Yang says his Bot got a cheaper, faster internet plan from Comcast on a call, as reported by grokbot.guru.

Why it matters: The best first calls are boring ones: checking a fact, booking or rebooking. Give the Bot your goal and your limits in one message.

Users also found limits in the new calls. Here is what to know, with claims labelled.

Key points

Calls come from a number that is not yours. Rookie (@InvestorCartel) says three friends ignored his Bot's calls for that reason. The Terms say the Bot may use temporary numbers.
The Bot cannot read your card number on a call, he says, so you may need to join when it is time to pay.
A fan account (@GrokBotRadar) found people cannot call your Bot back and it cannot text. That post also promotes a paid phone service.
A post says the limit is 10 calls a day and 85 minutes a call. SpaceXSI has not confirmed this. Surgeon Kevin Tay (@KVTay316) says a doctor shortlist should show credentials and fit, not just a booked slot.

Why it matters: Tell people first that a call from a strange number is your Bot. For health or money calls, check the facts yourself.

SpaceXSI shows Data Bot, a shared Grok Bot for data questions

1shared bot for the whole company's data questions

In a post on the x.ai news page dated 2 Nov, SpaceXSI's Sally Xu describes Data Bot, a that its own data science team built. Anyone at the company can ask it data questions, for example in Slack. The team taught it with skills, so it answers the way the data team would.

Key points

The skills cover metrics and analysis, setting up and reading experiments, building charts and dashboards in tools like Databricks and Hex, and data engineering with dbt.
Data Bot has shared memory. New things it wants to remember need a manager's approval first, so one person's mistake does not spread to everyone.
Product manager Kevin Niparko is quoted saying it feels like having a data scientist in his pocket.
The post describes how SpaceXSI uses it inside the company. It is a setup teams can copy with Team Bots and skills, not a separate product to buy.

Why it matters: It shows a simple pattern a small team can copy: put one expert's know-how into skills, share one bot, and let a person approve what it remembers.

A Pro+ user says their weekly limit shrank 27% on 1 Nov

27%smaller limit one user claims since 1 Nov

A user on r/GrokBot, u/GhostPink4651, says their has run out much faster since 1 Nov with no notice. They analysed their own and say they now get at least 27% less for the same price. This is one user's analysis, not an official figure.

Key points

Their export had 15,583 rows from 5 Oct to 3 Nov. They say last week used 711.7M without hitting the limit, while 207.7M tokens this week already counted as 40.1% of the limit.
They say tokens per request stayed about the same, roughly 80,000 to 130,000.
Support told them it was a bug and that limits were back to normal. They disagree and say they have filed a formal complaint.
They are asking other users to export and share their numbers. SpaceXSI has not posted anything about it.

Why it matters: If your limit feels smaller, your own usage export is the best evidence. Compare the weeks before and after 1 Nov before you upgrade or complain.

u/NeoMatrix1217 looked at a week of their usage and shared what cut it. About three quarters came from long chats, not . These are the user's own numbers and tips.

Key points

Their heaviest day was one long chat with many separate asks.
Start a new chat for each new topic so the bot does not reread a long history, and put several asks in one message.
Run hourly routines less often or only on weekdays. Bot-to-bot handoffs use usage on both sides, so ask the right bot directly.
Ask for short answers when you do not need a full breakdown, and keep browser and research tasks tightly scoped. They shared their usage dashboard as a free template.

Why it matters: These are free habits. Starting fresh chats and asking the right bot directly can stretch your without changing your plan.

Users shared new ways they use , plus two free tools made by the community. These are the creators' own accounts, and the tools are unofficial.

Key points

Gregg Applefield (@GreggApplefield) connects Grok Bot to the court booking site Playbypoint, gives it his weekly schedule so it books courts, and has it draft texts to players from his contacts.
Chris Alarcon (@chrisralarcon) let Grok Bot run his LinkedIn outreach and approved every message first. He says it reported back each morning on its own and helped him save over RM4,100 (US$1,000) on insurance.
u/Saturn7601 made BotPeek, a free Mac app that lets your bots pop out from the edge of the screen so you can reply without opening Grok Bot.
u/phr0q made GB Launcher, a free script to run work and personal Grok Bot accounts side by side on one Mac. The author warns an app update could break it.

Why it matters: Approving each message before it goes out is a good habit to copy. Check any community tool's code and reviews before you install it, since it can see your bots.

Musk says Grok Bot costs too much; many meters drop back

~50%typical drop users reported on 2 Nov

Asked on X about a usage reset, Elon Musk replied on 2 Nov (4:34am MYT): "The cost of serving was unsustainably high relative to revenue." Later that day, many users on r/GrokBot and X said their weekly meters fell back, often by about half, with the same reset date. SpaceXSI has not explained the drop, and the pricing and limits pages look unchanged.

Key points

Users reported drops such as 100% to 52% (u/Pano021), 86% back from 100% (u/Toraadoraa) and 40% to 21% (u/Haunting_Jump6471).
u/jadmorffier logged their meter by hand: it jumped from 29.8% to 59.8% in 7 hours on about 0.5M , then fell to 37.3%. They call it a likely reversal, not a confirmed one.
The same user emailed support with meter readings, token counts and a usage CSV. An AI support replied with a number; no human reply yet.
Some users say tasks still use about twice as much of the as before. That is a community claim, not an official figure.

Why it matters: Your meter may already look better, but limits seem tighter than last month. Write down your meter reading each day so you can show support exact numbers if it jumps again.

Singapore shop lets your AI fill the cart, you approve payment

1stagent-first store in Singapore, it says

Tanatasa, an online store in Singapore, says it is the country's first "-first" shop. You ask an AI assistant such as to find, compare and add items to a cart, and you approve before anything is paid. This is the store's own claim; we found no SpaceXSI announcement about it.

Key points

The store sells groceries, household items, health, beauty, baby and pet products, and says delivery across Singapore is free.
Its site lists Grok, Grok Bot, Perplexity, Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Claude Duet and ChatGPT as assistants that can shop there.
It offers an and an connection so assistants can read the catalogue and build a cart.
It delivers only in Singapore, so it is not usable from Malaysia for now.

Why it matters: It is an early Southeast Asia example of shops being built for AI shoppers. Malaysian retailers could watch how it works, and anyone trying it should keep the approve-before-paying step.

Key points

Ventus (@venthewise) says the dialog was spotted in 1.1.0-pre.12.
Developing Adventures (@DevAdventur3s) shared screenshots and says it appears in version 0.78.3.
A post on r/GrokBot shared the same claim with a screenshot. No official post confirms it.

1,900Slack reads a week one routine made

With limits tighter, users are asking itself to break down their usage. It can show the percentage used, the reset time and which bots and spend the most. These are the creators' own tips.

Key points

Fox (@0xMfox) found a routine reading a muted Slack channel about 1,900 times a week. They limited it to mentions, moved an inbox summary from every 15 minutes to 8am and 6pm, and say they now end the week with 31% left.
They also warn that each press of Test runs the real job and uses real usage.
CyberDog (@haiway) says asking "how am I doing" returned weekly use, reset time, included vs and a 30-day breakdown.
u/Machine2024 shared a free usage report bot that draws charts by bot and routine. They say each report costs about 0.35% of the weekly allowance on the RM125 (US$30) plan.

Why it matters: Most wasted usage comes from routines that run too often. Check your schedules and once this week and cut the ones you do not need.

7bots in one eSIM startup team

Two users shared practical setups on r/GrokBot. One is starting a travel eSIM shop with a separate bot for each job. The other makes record a video every time it uses a browser with their logins. These are the creators' own accounts.

Key points

u/natehohohoho, from Taiwan, set up Boss, Supplier, Website, Design, Marketing, Customer service and Accounting bots. Each keeps its own memory, and one bot can ask another for information.
They say the bots are sometimes confidently wrong, so nothing is sent or posted without their check. It is week 1, with no orders yet.
u/nuwa2502 built a skill that records the bot's desktop to an MP4 whenever it controls a browser, then sends the video and a summary of what it clicked.
They do not watch every video, but say the recording makes it easier to trust the bot with sensitive tasks.

Why it matters: Splitting work into one bot per job and keeping a record of what bots do are two simple habits a small business can copy before trusting bots with real accounts.
