Grok Bot usage meters hit 100% overnight, and many are still stuck

On 1 Nov, many users on r/GrokBot and X said their weekly jumped to 100% while their bots were idle or doing light work. The SpaceXSI listed a slowdown of the Billing and Usage Dashboard from 1:38pm to 6:53pm MYT and marked it resolved. Users say their meters were not corrected after that. No reset has been announced.

Key points

Users posted jumps such as 75% to 100% (u/kidqa), 77% to 100% in a few seconds (u/ou2mame) and 42% to 84% while idle (u/LeoRisingGemini).
u/Mysterious_Water1563 says a Cursor support agent named Sam told them support "can't restore or reset included Grok Bot usage in the middle of a weekly cycle".
u/Konoplitski says they upgraded from the RM83 (US$20) plan to the RM248 (US$60) plan, paid the full price with no credit for the old plan, and still saw 30% of their usage gone.
kaize (@0x_kaize) suggests three steps: set a spending limit if is on, export your usage CSV as proof, and email support to ask for a recalculation.

Why it matters: If you run work on Grok Bot, check your meter today. If it looks wrong, keep a screenshot and your usage export, contact support, and cap on-demand spending so a wrong count does not turn into a bill.

Some of the weekend's busiest posts make claims we could not confirm. Treat them as claims until an official source backs them.

Key points

delost (@thedelost) says SpaceXAI "just shared" a trick with the command grokbot routine add nightly --gate send. We found no official post or documentation for this command. The general idea, that a routine should stop before it sends, spends or deletes, is sensible.
u/hossein1376 argues on r/GrokBot that the 100% jump is a quiet cut to the weekly quota, not a bug. The called it a dashboard incident, and we found no SpaceXSI statement that quotas changed.
Accounts posting "This is f*cking insane" clips of SpaceXSI staff, such as Lauren Tan and an engineer named as Nick Miller, push readers to outside links. Watch the original talks instead.
Elon Musk posted that Grok Bot "will research gifts that your friends and family would love and buy them". We found no matching feature announcement. Do not let a bot buy anything without your OK.

Why it matters: Copy commands and prompts only from official docs or people you can check. A command that does not exist wastes time, and a rumour about quotas can push people into upgrades they do not need.

The common view: chatting with bots is light, and coding in Cursor is heavy. Some users also say their bots stopped loading after they linked accounts that use different emails.

Why it matters: Before you switch or upgrade, check which jobs use your pool, especially if you code a lot in Cursor. If your Cursor and Grok accounts use different emails, expect linking trouble and send support both emails.

Later that morning, Elon Musk told people to "think of Grok Bot as a work colleague".

Key points

For each repeated task, the prompt asks for a one-line description, how often you did it, how long it takes, and whether the bot could do it and what access it would need.
It ends by asking for the top 3 tasks to automate first, ranked by time saved, with a or a dedicated bot for each.
The bot can only see what it is connected to. Connect email, calendar and Slack first, or tell it what is missing.
Elon Musk was quoting gaut (@0xgaut), who says Grok Bot feels like talking to a coworker: "Shorter sentences, less BS and fluff." Musk's post has more than 5,500 likes.

Why it matters: This is a quick way to pick your first routine. Read the list before you give the bot any new access, and start with the task that saves the most time.

That night, two r/grok users posted Grok chat replies made of random words. On r/GrokBot, a user who moved to a unified plan says their bots keep reporting computer resets and losing progress.

Key points

The incident note came from Cursor's official status and was posted by the incident-feed account on r/GrokBot. It did not say which services were hit.
u/dairycheez and u/Nervous_Reality800 posted word-salad replies to simple messages like "Hello" at about 11:15pm MYT on 31 Oct. There is no official note on this yet.
u/xtrememutt says their bots restored from a backup on a private Hindsight memory server and reread the chat history to carry on.

Why it matters: Save long projects outside the bot's computer, in files, a repo or notes, so a reset doesn't wipe the work. If replies turn to nonsense, start a new chat and check the .

The 27-minute talk video is real, but the job title and the results are not confirmed. Other viral posts promise trading profits from .

Key points

The @akarixbt post does not name the speaker and points readers to a guide. Treat the numbers as claims until someone checkable stands behind them.
Gull (@0xGull) shows a bot drawn as a seagull and claims about RM6,200 (US$1,500) became RM24,700 (US$6,020) in 25 seconds. No real trading records are shown.
@yoamnycruz claims Grok Bot reverse-engineered the Binance and Polymarket hacks from one prompt. There is no proof.
u/ruqaiah on r/GrokBot says Instagram restricted them after their bot sent 2-3 outreach messages. Apps can flag automated messages, so keep bots to low-volume replies.

Why it matters: Bot-team talks can give you ideas, but they are not proof. Tell community members and clients not to buy bots, tokens or courses because of these posts.

Cursor says a modified copy of the Claude Code , versions 2.1.312 and 2.1.313 for Windows and macOS, was available in the Cursor IDE extension marketplace from 5:27pm on 29 Oct to 4:35am on 30 Oct MYT. Anthropic did not make it. At most 5,000 users were affected. Cursor took the marketplace down, rotated its keys and rebuilt it, and says , Grok and other SpaceXSI products were not affected.

Key points

Official: the fake extension tried to add an attacker labelled "svc-telemetry", open a and start itself on every login. It also sent basic computer details out.
Official: the tunnel mostly failed without admin rights, and the attacker's server is now offline.
Official: update the extension to 2.1.314. On macOS or Linux, check for the key with grep -qs svc-telemetry ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, then run Cursor's clean-up script.
If you installed it in that window, change the passwords and API keys that were on that computer.

Why it matters: Grok Bot itself was not hit, but many Grok Bot users also code in Cursor. If you or a client did, run the check today and change keys before connecting that laptop to your bots.

The real Binance hack on 29 Oct, which X's news summary puts at about RM25.6 billion (US$6.3 billion), set off posts claiming saved or multiplied crypto money. One account says its bot pulled about RM434,000 (US$107,000) out before withdrawals were locked. Nothing backs this up, and SpaceXSI has said nothing about it. Other viral 'bot turned a small stake into thousands' posts say in small print that the numbers are simulated.

Key points

@sharpbyte_ claims its Grok Bot caught the exploit and moved about RM434,000 (US$107,000). There is no proof, and nothing official says Grok Bot did this.
@rugikkk's bot post, about RM6,100 to RM68,500 (US$1,500 to US$16,880), says "illustrative build, numbers simulated".
On r/GrokBot, a user says they ask Grok to look for exposed data in competitors' websites and backends. Probing systems you don't own can break computer-crime laws, including Malaysia's.
Treat 'my bot made me money' posts as ads until they show real, checkable records.

Why it matters: Big hacks bring scam waves. Warn community members and clients not to buy bots, tokens or courses because of these posts.

On r/GrokBot, one paying user says their bot's computer has hung for days, and a business-plan team cannot connect SharePoint. Another user asked whether Claude was hacking Grok Bot after an "Ask Claude" option appeared when they right-clicked selected text.

Key points

Auto Review is the safety check that looks at a bot's actions before they run. During the slowdown, some actions were held or slower.
u/Thin-Trade-6113 says even simple commands time out on the bot's computer and support has not replied. Restarting the computer from settings did not fix it for them.
u/Legal-Blacksmith9423 sees "disabled by team admin" for SharePoint although they are the only admins. There is no public fix yet.
The "Ask Claude" right-click item comes from the Claude desktop app installed on the same computer, not from Grok Bot. Turn it off in your computer's settings if you don't want it.

Why it matters: If a bot's computer hangs for more than a day, move urgent to a backup and keep a record of your support request. Check status before blaming your setup.

Grok Bot 0.78 adds shopping cards, order tracking and subscription templates

3new subscription templates

The official changelog for version 0.78.1, which also bundles 0.78.0, brings shopping into the chat. Products now show as cards with photos, rating, price and store, and Buy now starts an order that you approve. can be added in the 's Payments tab. New templates start a free trial and cancel it or remind you before it bills, find subscriptions you no longer use, and watch renewal prices.

Key points

Official: product results show as cards, and three or four results scroll in a carousel.
Official: after you order, the bot tracks the parcel and tells you when it ships or arrives.
Official: bots can cancel a subscription or look up its renewal date, and must confirm with you before changing anything.

Why it matters: Shopping and subscription cleanup are easy first jobs to show clients. Keep the approval step on, since the bot can now place orders and cancel plans.

Several Southeast Asia users posted on X about this week. A small survey company owner in Vietnam, @ntducbk, says it handles their X, TikTok and office paperwork. Indonesian user @arieagung says another agent they trialled at $99 a month did worse than Grok Bot. A Singapore user, @tong_caspe4869, says many people there still don't know what Grok Bot is. Separately, a SpaceXSI Ambassador Program application form is open, shared on r/GrokBot by u/onion_s0up.

The major incident that started at 5:15am MYT on 29 Oct was marked resolved at 7:13am MYT. A smaller slowdown hit Origin and Cloud Agents from 5:01pm to 5:18pm MYT the same day, and was also resolved. On r/GrokBot, u/Actual_Ad_5680 says cloud agents used about 70% of their weekly limit in two days. Developer Nicky Testaforte (@testafortedev) shared a free bot called that sends a daily usage report.

On r/GrokBot, u/Brilliant-Vehicle994 says their Google password was leaked soon after linking it in . There is no official statement, and the post does not show that Grok Bot caused it. Another user, u/That-Basil7939, says eBay and Amazon keep blocking the bot with . The new 0.78 changelog says the bot's browser now types one character at a time and moves the mouse, which may affect how sites see it.

Community: the password-leak claim is one user's report and is not confirmed.
Community: 403 errors mean the website refused the request, often because it suspects a bot.
Official: the bot's browser now types and moves the mouse more like a person on every site it fills in.

Why it matters: Turn on two-step sign-in for any account you link, and change passwords if anything looks wrong. Expect some big stores to block bots, and use a connector where one exists.
