Musk says Grok Bot costs too much; many meters drop back

~50%typical drop users reported on 2 Nov

Asked on X about a usage reset, Elon Musk replied on 2 Nov (4:34am MYT): "The cost of serving was unsustainably high relative to revenue." Later that day, many users on r/GrokBot and X said their weekly meters fell back, often by about half, with the same reset date. SpaceXSI has not explained the drop, and the pricing and limits pages look unchanged.

Key points

Users reported drops such as 100% to 52% (u/Pano021), 86% back from 100% (u/Toraadoraa) and 40% to 21% (u/Haunting_Jump6471).
u/jadmorffier logged their meter by hand: it jumped from 29.8% to 59.8% in 7 hours on about 0.5M tokens, then fell to 37.3%. They call it a likely reversal, not a confirmed one.
The same user emailed support with meter readings, token counts and a usage CSV. An AI support agent replied with a ticket number; no human reply yet.
Some users say tasks still use about twice as much of the as before. That is a community claim, not an official figure.

Why it matters: Your meter may already look better, but limits seem tighter than last month. Write down your meter reading each day so you can show support exact numbers if it jumps again.

Singapore shop lets your AI fill the cart, you approve payment

1stagent-first store in Singapore, it says

Tanatasa, an online store in Singapore, says it is the country's first "agent-first" shop. You ask an AI assistant such as to find, compare and add items to a cart, and you approve before anything is paid. This is the store's own claim; we found no SpaceXSI announcement about it.

Key points

The store sells groceries, household items, health, beauty, baby and pet products, and says delivery across Singapore is free.
Its site lists Grok, Grok Bot, Perplexity, Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Claude Duet and ChatGPT as assistants that can shop there.
It offers an API and an MCP connection so assistants can read the catalogue and build a cart.
It delivers only in Singapore, so it is not usable from Malaysia for now.

Why it matters: It is an early Southeast Asia example of shops being built for AI shoppers. Malaysian retailers could watch how it works, and anyone trying it should keep the approve-before-paying step.

Test build reportedly trades a usage reset for your chats

0official posts confirming it

Two X users say a preview build shows a new pop-up. When you hit 100% usage, it offers to reset your limit if you let SpaceXAI use your Grok Bot chats to train its models. This comes from unofficial looks at test builds. It is not live for normal users and may never ship.

Key points

Ventus (@venthewise) says the dialog was spotted in 1.1.0-pre.12.
Developing Adventures (@DevAdventur3s) shared screenshots and says it appears in version 0.78.3.
A post on r/GrokBot shared the same claim with a screenshot. No official post confirms it.

Why it matters: If it ships, the trade is your data for more usage. Your bots may handle client emails, files and logins, so think about what you would share before you tap yes.

Ask your bot where your weekly usage went

1,900Slack reads a week one routine made

With limits tighter, users are asking itself to break down their usage. It can show the percentage used, the reset time and which bots and spend the most. These are the creators' own tips.

Key points

Fox (@0xMfox) found a routine reading a muted Slack channel about 1,900 times a week. They limited it to mentions, moved an inbox summary from every 15 minutes to 8am and 6pm, and say they now end the week with 31% left.
They also warn that each press of Test runs the real job and uses real usage.
CyberDog (@haiway) says asking "how am I doing" returned weekly use, reset time, included vs and a 30-day breakdown.
u/Machine2024 shared a free usage report bot that draws charts by bot and routine. They say each report costs about 0.35% of the weekly allowance on the RM125 (US$30) plan.

Why it matters: Most wasted usage comes from routines that run too often. Check your schedules and once this week and cut the ones you do not need.

An eSIM startup run by bots, and bots that film clicks

7bots in one eSIM startup team

Two users shared practical setups on r/GrokBot. One is starting a travel eSIM shop with a separate bot for each job. The other makes record a video every time it uses a browser with their logins. These are the creators' own accounts.

Key points

u/natehohohoho, from Taiwan, set up Boss, Supplier, Website, Design, Marketing, Customer service and Accounting bots. Each keeps its own memory, and one bot can ask another for information.
They say the bots are sometimes confidently wrong, so nothing is sent or posted without their check. It is week 1, with no orders yet.
u/nuwa2502 built a that records the bot's desktop to an MP4 whenever it controls a browser, then sends the video and a summary of what it clicked.
They do not watch every video, but say the recording makes it easier to trust the bot with sensitive tasks.

Why it matters: Splitting work into one bot per job and keeping a record of what bots do are two simple habits a small business can copy before trusting bots with real accounts.

Grok Bot usage meters hit 100% overnight, and many are still stuck

5h 15mbilling and usage dashboard incident

On 1 Nov, many users on r/GrokBot and X said their weekly jumped to 100% while their bots were idle or doing light work. The SpaceXSI listed a slowdown of the Billing and Usage Dashboard from 1:38pm to 6:53pm MYT and marked it resolved. Users say their meters were not corrected after that. No reset has been announced.

Key points

Users posted jumps such as 75% to 100% (u/kidqa), 77% to 100% in a few seconds (u/ou2mame) and 42% to 84% while idle (u/LeoRisingGemini).
u/Mysterious_Water1563 says a Cursor support agent named Sam told them support "can't restore or reset included Grok Bot usage in the middle of a weekly cycle".
u/Konoplitski says they upgraded from the RM83 (US$20) plan to the RM248 (US$60) plan, paid the full price with no credit for the old plan, and still saw 30% of their usage gone.
kaize (@0x_kaize) suggests three steps: set a spending limit if is on, export your usage CSV as proof, and email support to ask for a recalculation.

Why it matters: If you run work on Grok Bot, check your meter today. If it looks wrong, keep a screenshot and your usage export, contact support, and cap on-demand spending so a wrong count does not turn into a bill.

0Malaysia meetups on the November list

Daren Yoong (@darenyoong), an EV reviewer in Singapore, says he has applied to be a SpaceXSI community ambassador for Singapore and that applications are open. Ambassadors host local meetups for Cursor, Grok and users. Two other Southeast Asia users shared how they use Grok Bot. The November events calendar on r/GrokBot lists no Malaysia or Singapore meetup yet.

Key points

Romcy Madronio (@RRomcym) runs a virtual assistant and lead generation agency in the Philippines. He says he cancelled Claude and now has bots handling sales, operations, finance and content.
Christopher Ehrlich (@ccccjjjjeeee), based in Bangkok and Vienna, told his bot what he likes. Twice a week it searches the web for events and sends him a list.
The November calendar's nearest Asia events are in Kawasaki, Japan (4 Nov), Macau and Taipei (10 Nov), a Macau hackathon (12-14 Nov) and Kandy, Sri Lanka (14 Nov). A Siem Reap, Cambodia meetup was held on 1 Nov.
r/GrokBot passed 20,000 members on 1 Nov.

Why it matters: With no Malaysia meetup on the November list, there is room for a local host. The Philippines and Bangkok examples are simple jobs that small teams here can copy.

~200eBay listings helped by one bot

Users shared practical builds over the weekend. One sells Pokemon cards on eBay with help from , another made a helper for sales reps on the road. Lauren (@poteto), who works on Grok Bot at SpaceXSI, released a small web game she made with Grok Bot and Cursor. These are the creators' own accounts.

Key points

u/LogieBear46 says Grok Bot helps run about 200 eBay listings of Pokemon cards. They photograph binder pages, and the bot turns the photos into a spreadsheet of cards.
u/Worldly_Way3252 built "Roadie", a sidekick for field sales reps, and shared the starter prompt and a demo video. They also describe a second bot for trade events.
Lauren (@poteto) says the game cost her US$5.99 (about RM25) for the domain. Her post has more than 1,800 likes.
u/DatabaseActive8764 asked whether Grok Bot can handle customer service on WhatsApp. It is a common question for small businesses in this region, and the thread has no clear answer yet.

Why it matters: The eBay and Roadie posts show the pattern that works: a clear, repeated job with a simple input, such as photos or a contact list. Start there before building anything big.

Do it by hand, save it as a skill, then schedule it

3steps: task, skill, routine

AIMax (@Max_XuY) posted a simple order for setting up automations in : do the task once in chat, save it as a , and only then turn it into a . He says skipping the first step is why most automations break. Other users shared small tips worth copying.

Key points

AIMax's steps: do the task by hand in chat, say "save what we just did as a skill called X", then say "run X every weekday 8am".
He also uses a weekly routine that collects what he did and turns it into draft posts for Monday. Nothing posts without him.
GHADEER (@ghadeerrmajeed), founder of Arca, says Grok Bot routines can be started from outside with a , for example to reply in a customer support chat.
His shared prompt also tells the bot to read his past posts to match his voice, and to flag any claim it cannot source.

Why it matters: Testing a task by hand first costs little and saves usage, which matters more this week while meters are unreliable.

Hype check: a made-up command, a quota rumour and recycled staff clips

0official sources for the --gate command

Some of the weekend's busiest posts make claims we could not confirm. Treat them as claims until an official source backs them.

Key points

delost (@thedelost) says SpaceXAI "just shared" a trick with the command grokbot routine add nightly --gate send. We found no official post or documentation for this command. The general idea, that a routine should stop before it sends, spends or deletes, is sensible.
u/hossein1376 argues on r/GrokBot that the 100% jump is a quiet cut to the weekly quota, not a bug. The called it a dashboard incident, and we found no SpaceXSI statement that quotas changed.
Accounts posting "This is f*cking insane" clips of SpaceXSI staff, such as Lauren Tan and an engineer named as Nick Miller, push readers to outside links. Watch the original talks instead.
Elon Musk posted that Grok Bot "will research gifts that your friends and family would love and buy them". We found no matching feature announcement. Do not let a bot buy anything without your OK.

Why it matters: Copy commands and prompts only from official docs or people you can check. A command that does not exist wastes time, and a rumour about quotas can push people into upgrades they do not need.

4products sharing one usage pool

put Grok, , Cursor and X Premium on one shared . Over 31 Oct, users on X, r/GrokBot and r/grok compared what uses it up. These are community reports, not official numbers. The common view: chatting with bots is light, and coding in Cursor is heavy. Some users also say their bots stopped loading after they linked accounts that use different emails.

Key points

Texas Twins Dad (@Texas_Twins_Dad) says on the Super plan, regular chat barely uses anything, simple images and videos are light, Grok Imagine videos take more, and Cursor coding burns the most.
u/thezackplauche on r/grok warns heavy users not to swap SuperGrok for X Premium. They say they lost the separate Grok and Grok Bot pool, and making images then used up their bot time.
u/mashome3333 gets "Couldn't load your Bots" on Windows and Android since the update. Their Cursor and SuperGrok plans use different emails. Reinstalling did not help, and their ticket went to human support on 27 Oct.
The @grok account's automated reply for out-of-sync plans: email support from your Grok Bot account email, list both account emails, and add screenshots, your platform and app version, and what you tried.

Why it matters: Before you switch or upgrade, check which jobs use your pool, especially if you code a lot in Cursor. If your Cursor and Grok accounts use different emails, expect linking trouble and send support both emails.

1-2%of weekly usage for the 8-bit dashboard

On r/GrokBot, other users shared a family calendar on an old iPad, a team of bots drawn as an 8-bit game, and a shared project board for many bots. These are community claims.

Key points

u/The_Pikl put a dashboard on an old iPad on the kitchen counter. Grok Bot reads their email and calendar and shows family notices, such as boil-water warnings, parcels and school events.
u/Calm-Suggestion-4677 asked their chief of staff bot to "create an interactive 8-bit video game representation of our workflow". They say it used 1-2% of their weekly usage.
u/CryptBay shared Dev Project Coordinator, a free open-source (Apache 2.0). It gives a team of bots one project board saved on your own computer. You add it to each bot by hand.
u/Bed-After says Grok Bot, the free game engine and ready-made asset packs make simple games easy to build.

Why it matters: These are small, real jobs you can copy. The Philippines example is a useful Southeast Asia case: a non-coder building a tool for local small businesses.

3tasks to automate first

Eric Zakariasson (@ericzakariasson) of Cursor, which is part of SpaceXSI, posted a prompt that asks to look through your last two weeks of emails, meetings, Slack messages and docs, and list the tasks you did more than once. Later that morning, Elon Musk told people to "think of Grok Bot as a work colleague".

Key points

For each repeated task, the prompt asks for a one-line description, how often you did it, how long it takes, and whether the bot could do it and what access it would need.
It ends by asking for the top 3 tasks to automate first, ranked by time saved, with a or a dedicated bot for each.
The bot can only see what it is connected to. Connect email, calendar and Slack first, or tell it what is missing.
Elon Musk was quoting gaut (@0xgaut), who says Grok Bot feels like talking to a coworker: "Shorter sentences, less BS and fluff." Musk's post has more than 5,500 likes.

Why it matters: This is a quick way to pick your first routine. Read the list before you give the bot any new access, and start with the task that saves the most time.

That night, two r/grok users posted Grok chat replies made of random words. On r/GrokBot, a user who moved to a unified plan says their bots keep reporting computer resets and losing progress.

Key points

u/dairycheez and u/Nervous_Reality800 posted word-salad replies to simple messages like "Hello" at about 11:15pm MYT on 31 Oct. There is no official note on this yet.
u/xtrememutt says their bots restored from a backup on a private Hindsight memory server and reread the chat history to carry on.

Key points

The @akarixbt post does not name the speaker and points readers to a guide. Treat the numbers as claims until someone checkable stands behind them.

Fake Claude Code extension hit Cursor's marketplace; Grok Bot not affected

5,000users at most affected

Cursor says a modified copy of the Claude Code , versions 2.1.312 and 2.1.313 for Windows and macOS, was available in the Cursor IDE extension marketplace from 5:27pm on 29 Oct to 4:35am on 30 Oct MYT. Anthropic did not make it. At most 5,000 users were affected. Cursor took the marketplace down, rotated its keys and rebuilt it, and says , Grok and other SpaceXSI products were not affected.

Key points

Official: the fake extension tried to add an attacker labelled "svc-telemetry", open a and start itself on every login. It also sent basic computer details out.
Official: the tunnel mostly failed without admin rights, and the attacker's server is now offline.
Official: update the extension to 2.1.314. On macOS or Linux, check for the key with grep -qs svc-telemetry ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, then run Cursor's clean-up script.
If you installed it in that window, change the passwords and API keys that were on that computer.

Why it matters: Grok Bot itself was not hit, but many Grok Bot users also code in Cursor. If you or a client did, run the check today and change keys before connecting that laptop to your bots.

In Indonesia, a free in-person SpaceXAI Hackathon is listed for 6-7 Feb 2027 in Jakarta, and a Pekanbaru user shares a way to save tokens.

Key points

@lucassam888 (Malaysia) says he froze the wallet from his phone, scanned his laptop, reset passwords and turned on 2FA. His account is not verified by SpaceXSI.
SpaceXAI Hackathon Indonesia: 6-7 Feb 2027 in Jakarta, free, 1,000 places, approval needed, hosted by Aurelius Ivan Wijaya of the Cursor community. The host says the date may change.
Dedy Ong (@MrOngDedy, Pekanbaru) has his bot write scripts that call each service's API instead of opening a browser, and sends data in and out through to save tokens.

Viral 'Grok Bot beat the Binance hack' posts are unproven

0official confirmations of the claims

The real Binance hack on 29 Oct, which X's news summary puts at about RM25.6 billion (US$6.3 billion), set off posts claiming saved or multiplied crypto money. One account says its bot pulled about RM434,000 (US$107,000) out before withdrawals were locked. Nothing backs this up, and SpaceXSI has said nothing about it. Other viral 'bot turned a small stake into thousands' posts say in small print that the numbers are simulated.

Key points

@sharpbyte_ claims its Grok Bot caught the exploit and moved about RM434,000 (US$107,000). There is no proof, and nothing official says Grok Bot did this.
@rugikkk's bot post, about RM6,100 to RM68,500 (US$1,500 to US$16,880), says "illustrative build, numbers simulated".
On r/GrokBot, a user says they ask Grok to look for exposed data in competitors' websites and backends. Probing systems you don't own can break computer-crime laws, including Malaysia's.
Treat 'my bot made me money' posts as ads until they show real, checkable records.

Why it matters: Big hacks bring scam waves. Warn community members and clients not to buy bots, tokens or courses because of these posts.

Auto Review slowed for 96 minutes; users report stuck computers

96 minAuto Review slowdown

The official SpaceXSI logged a slowdown from 7:44am to 9:20am MYT on 30 Oct, marked minor and now resolved. On r/GrokBot, one paying user says their bot's computer has hung for days, and a business-plan team cannot connect SharePoint. Another user asked whether Claude was hacking Grok Bot after an "Ask Claude" option appeared when they right-clicked selected text.

Key points

Auto Review is the safety check that looks at a bot's actions before they run. During the slowdown, some actions were held or slower.
u/Thin-Trade-6113 says even simple commands time out on the bot's computer and support has not replied. Restarting the computer from settings did not fix it for them.
u/Legal-Blacksmith9423 sees "disabled by team admin" for SharePoint although they are the only admins. There is no public fix yet.
The "Ask Claude" right-click item comes from the Claude desktop app installed on the same computer, not from Grok Bot. Turn it off in your computer's settings if you don't want it.

Why it matters: If a bot's computer hangs for more than a day, move urgent to a backup and keep a record of your support request. Check status before blaming your setup.

Zapier explains Grok Bot; users share nutrition, job-hunt and Cybertruck bots

9,000+apps Zapier can connect

Zapier published a plain-English guide to and a how-to for linking Grok and Grok Bot to its 9,000+ apps through Zapier MCP. A SpaceXSI engineer, Whitney Enlow, shared a starter pack of official videos and guides. On r/GrokBot and X, users describe a nutrition bot that orders meals, a job-hunt bot that runs mock interviews, and a voice call to a bot from a Cybertruck browser.

Key points

Zapier: each bot keeps its own memory, files and browser, and bots hand work to each other, so you open the right bot like a contact in a messaging app.
Zapier's second guide: add a Grok step to a Zap, for example to research a new sales lead and write a summary back to the CRM.
Whitney Enlow's starter pack links Grok Bot 101 and 201 videos and official guides for work and for sales and marketing teams.
A Reddit user says a nutrition bot helped them lose 20 lb (about 9 kg) in two months by picking deals of about RM41 (US$10) a meal.

Why it matters: The Zapier guide and the starter pack are good links to send to people new to Grok Bot. The user stories show easy personal jobs to try first.
