Notion Japan shows teams how to start with Notion AI

Notion Japan posted a 45-minute webinar on 30 Oct 2026 about getting a whole team started with Notion AI. Its description says it demos two sides: members spending less time on reports and searching, and managers seeing team status in real time. Notion Japan also says it updated a Department portal A shared Notion home page for one team, linking its docs, projects and updates in one place. template that comes with ready-made AI skill A saved set of instructions in Notion that tells Notion AI how to do a task your team repeats., so teams can try it right after watching.

What we learned

  1. Official (Notion Japan): the session is built around team use, not personal tips.
  2. For members, the pitch is less time writing reports and hunting for information.
  3. For managers, the pitch is a live view of how the team is doing, so they can act sooner.
  4. The updated department portal template has AI skills built in, per the description. The webinar is in Japanese.

Why it matters: Many teams buy Notion AI and then stall on where to begin. A shared department portal with Skills Reusable written instructions that teach an AI how your team likes a job done, shared from a Notion library. already set up is a practical first step to copy.

A Notion ambassador shares a free task breakdown template

Kayunichi (@kayunichi), whose channel says they are an official Notion Ambassador A community member recognised by Notion who runs local events and helps others learn Notion. in Japan, posted a 20-minute tutorial on 31 Oct 2026. It shows a WBS Work breakdown structure: a plan that splits a big project into smaller tasks and sub-tasks., a way to break a big project into parent and child tasks, built in Notion. The template is free, but you get it by sending a keyword to the creator's LINE account. This is the creator's own template and view, not Notion news.

Key learnings

  • The video builds it in 3 steps: add parent tasks, add child tasks, then fill in how far along each one is.
  • It colour-codes progress, links tasks that depend on each other, and shows them on a timeline.
  • The creator says it beats Excel because each task is also a page, notes can sit outside the table, and Notion AI can read it without extra setup.
  • Credit: via Kayunichi (@kayunichi) on YouTube. The description includes a Notion affiliate link.

Why it matters: Teams moving project plans out of spreadsheets often ask for exactly this layout. It is a good real example of parent and child tasks with dependencies.

What Notion Marketplace keeps when you sell a template from Malaysia

Template selling came up again on X this weekend, so here is what Notion's own help page says. Notion takes 8% plus about RM1.62 (US$0.40) on each sale. Sellers outside the United States, such as in Malaysia, pay another 1% when Payout When a platform sends the money you earned from sales to your bank account. are changed from US dollars to their own currency. Notion handles sales tax, but income tax is up to you.

Key learnings

  • Official fee: 8% plus about RM1.62 (US$0.40) per sale, covering payments, support, refunds and fraud checks.
  • Sellers outside the US pay an extra 1% Foreign exchange fee A charge for converting money from one currency, like US dollars, into another, like ringgit. on payouts.
  • Our own example: on a RM61 (US$15) template you keep about RM54 (US$13.27) after both fees, before any tax.
  • Malaysia is on the list of countries that can sell. Money is held 14 days for refunds, and payouts need at least about RM81 (US$20).

Why it matters: The fixed fee hurts cheap templates most, so very low prices may not be worth it. Check the help page before you set a price.

A Notion template that grew into a startup

N. (@Nlacombe_), from a startup called Promethee, posted on 31 Oct 2026 (MYT) that it had just sponsored its first OpenAI Codex event in San Francisco. The post says that a year ago Promethee was only a Notion template connected to a Discord A free chat app where communities talk in text and voice channels. server, meant to turn your life into a multiplayer game. This is the poster's own account, and the post shares no users or revenue.

Key learnings

  • The claim: Promethee began as a Notion template plus a Discord community about a year ago.
  • Now, per the post, it has sponsored its first developer event in San Francisco.
  • The post had about 3,200 views and 51 likes when we checked.
  • Credit: via N. (@Nlacombe_) on X. We could not check any business numbers.

Why it matters: A template can be a cheap way to test whether people want an idea. Here a template and a community came first, and the product came later.
